10 soldiers qualify for Rio Olympics

New Delhi, March 18 (IANS) Ten Indian soldiers have qualified for the Rio Olympics, an official statement said on Friday.

These include Naib Subedar Jitu Rai of the Gurkha Regiment who has qualified for the 50 metre air pistol shooting, while Subedar Gurpreet Singh, a sapper, qualified in the 10 metre air pistol category.

Havildar Sandeep Singh from Jat Regiment has been selected for 50 km walk, the release said.
