130 Pak nuclear warheads aimed at deterring India: US govt report

Washington Jan 21, (PTI):A nuclear-capable ballistic missile Hatf-II Abdali, Reuters fil ephoto Pakistan’s nuclear warheads which are estimated to be between 110-130 are aimed at deterring India from taking military action against it, a latest Congressional report has said.

The report also expressed concern that Islamabad’s “full spectrum deterrence” doctrine has increased risk of nuclear conflict between the two South Asian neighbours.

“Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal probably consists of approximately 110-130 nuclear warheads, although it could have more. Islamabad is producing fissile material, adding to related production facilities, deploying additional nuclear weapons, and new types of delivery vehicles,” Congressional Research Service (CRS) said in its latest report.

In its 28-page report, the CRS noted that Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal is widely regarded as designed to dissuade India from taking military action against it, but Islamabad’s expansion of its nuclear arsenal, development of new types of nuclear weapons and adoption of a doctrine called “full spectrum deterrence” have led some observers to express concern about an increased risk of nuclear conflict between Pakistan and India, which also continues to expand its nuclear arsenal.

CRS is the independent research wing of the US Congress, which prepares periodic reports by eminent experts on a wide range of issues so as to help lawmakers take informed decisions.

Reports of CRS are not considered as an official view of the US Congress.

  1. US is warning Modi against military action against Pakistan in a veiled form by releasing so called “study report” ! Obama – Modi brotherhood jindabad. Parrikar and Modi dance as per the tune by the Western anti India combine. Modi thought anti India stance was anti Congress stance and thought Congress enemy formation worldwide is for the RSS! RSS does not tolerate democratic enemy and has fallen to the bosom of India’s enemy. Immature fools. If India survives till 2019, Congress can assure a future of dignity to India!

    • “If india survives till 2019, Congress can assure a future of dignity to India!,” by the Dynasty lover and admirer, B.N. Pai.

      Dear Mr. B.N. Pai,

Whenever you comment on most issues, you remind me of Zahid Hamid, a Pakistani commentator, who just admires Mohd. Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal and regrets and cries that Pakistanis have spurned their desires and visions. He is being ridiculed by other sane and rational Pakistani commentators and analysts, who consider him to be a joker, clown, dreamer, emotional person, stupid and a big nut. Some panelists openly criticize him during the panel talks and some, who are not aware that he will be in the panel, give a dressing down to the anchor and just walk away. He is also referred as “Lal topi” or “Red cap” and when he had been to Saudi Arabia, he was put in the slammer for at least a month or so, till Pakistan was able to use its good offices to get him out. I hope you are not in the habit of wearing multi-coloured caps.

When Congress was in power they did nothing and people were wondering where are Sonia Gandhi, Dr. Manmohan Singh and Rajiv Gandhi. People did not know where they were and they were not available even in black market. The country had gone to dogs with scandals, misappropriations, etc. and Dr. Singh was sitting tight on his bottoms and doing nothing. Only, when there was a noise and ruckus in Parliament, he would come to the mike and speak for a few minutes. Even today, he comes out only when Sonia Gandhi comes out and he diligently walks behind her. How sweet?

From my observations, both BJP and Congess are bad and filled with corrupt and/or people who have no patriotism. All said and done do not worry about India’s future, but fill up a glass with whisky, dilute it with soda and have sips and much cashew nuts and pistachoes, while reading the excellent book, “The Red Sari” by Javier Mori, which will provide you a wealth of information. However, before doing that remove the cobwebs that are cluttering your mind. You can also read an excellent book, “Freedom at Midnight” by Larry Collins/Dominique Lapierre, which is a best seller.

      • Nelson Lewis – “Dr. Singh was sitting tight on his bottoms and doing nothing.”

Lewismaam, for the last more than five years you were repeatedly saying that Dr Singh was sitting tight on his bottoms and breaking gas. For the first time you say now “Dr. Singh was sitting tight on his bottoms and doing nothing.”

Sir, have you stopped sniffing his bottoms, or has he really stopped breaking gas?
