Kundapur: 50-year-old Malinga Falls from Tree, Dies – Lightning Strikes House later

Kundapur: A 50-year-old man died after falling from a coconut tree, at Kota here on November 21.

The deceased has been identified as Malinga (50), son of Neelu from Karkada Badaholi, Saligrama.

According to police, on November 21, at around 12:45 pm, while plucking coconuts, Malinga lost his grip and fell down from the tree. With the help of locals Malinga was rushed to the hospital but the doctor pronounced him brought dead. The family members then went to the police station to inform about the incident and fixed the final rites on November 22.

As the family members were mourning on losing the sole bread winner. In the evening at around 5 PM there was heavy rain followed by lightning and thunder. When all the family members were inside the house, lightning struck the coconut tree and the house. The electric wiring in the house was completely burnt, mobile phones and other electric appliances were damaged, the total loss estimated to be around Rs 1 lakh.

Saligram Panchayat member Achuta Poojary visited Malinga’s house and condoled the family members. The concerned authorities were also informed about the incident.
