16 Yemeni soldiers killed in suicide attack

Sanaa, May 12 (IANS) Sixteen soldiers were killed when suspected Al Qaeda militants detonated three suicide car bombs at a military base in Yemen’s Hadramout province on Thursday.

“The suicide attacks targeted a military base controlled by newly recruited Yemeni soldiers and United Arab Emirates (UAE) troops in Khalaf area in the eastern parts of Mukalla,” an army official told Xinhua.

Most of the casualties were from the bomb disposal unit.
