Belthangady: Illegal Construction of Hall and Levy of Exorbitant Rent Alleged

Belthangady: Social activist Ranjan Rao Yerdoor has filed a complaint against Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade of Dharmasthala levelling a serious charge of illegal construction.

He has alleged that a 20-cents land which had been allotted for the construction of a Samaja Mandira (community hall for the public) was transferred in the name of Shantivana in violation of norms.

He has also said that a high-end hall has been constructed where exorbitant rent was being charged. This has deprived the public of enjoying the benefit of a community hall at reasonable tariffs.

He has further alleged that the original building of the Samaja Mandira had been demolished without a specific approval from the deputy commissioner and in violation of the conditions of land grant.
