Udupi: About 50,000 devotees will wear the Datta Mala as part of the Datta Mala Abhiyan in Chikmagaluru, said Sharan Pumpwell, Convener of Bajrang Dal.
He was addressing the press meet at the Press Club here on December 10. Datta Mala Abhiyan will be held at the Datta Peetha for six days from December 16.
As part of the Datta Mala Abhiyan, Sankeerthan Yatra and religious meets will be held. Women will carry out the Sankeerthan Yatra from Bolarameshwara Temple to Kamadhenu Ganapathy temple on December 22. Ganahoma, Durgahoma and religious meets will be held at the Datta Peeta as part of the Sankeerthan Yatra.
On December 23, a shobha yatra will be held at Chikmagaluru. Around 50,000 devotees from across the state will arrive for the Datta peeta on December 16 and take part in various religious rituals. 15,000 Datta Maladharies will be attending from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kasargod and Kodagu districts.
“After coming to power, the Congress government has tried to restrain the Hindu community by lifting ban on cow slaughtering. Theft of cows has become common and there is no system to hear the woes of people. The government withdrew the anti-cow slaughter bill framed by the previous BJP government. The government is targeting Hindu organisation members and has been imposing the Goonda Act on them without serving a notice.” Pumpwell condemned the state government’s decision to withdraw cases against the members of Popular Front of India (PFI). “The Congress government is playing with the sentiments of the people by banning astrology programmes in TV shows,” he added.
Sharan Pumpwell also condemned the move of sending Kankanady Police Inspector Pramod on leave after the arrest of a rape accused. He expressed concern over the good police officials after the Congress came to power and criticised them of playing vote bank politics. He also opposed the visit of Islamic preacher Dr Zakir Naik to Mangaluru. “The state government banned Dr Praveen Bhai Thogadia and Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for Hindu religious programmes, but the same government is allowing anti-Hindu preachers to visit. This is condemnable,” he added.

Okay – I have no comments if people want to believe in or following certain things as long as it doesn’t harm others. My sincere request to these groups is to do something productive to address real issues in our society. Learn from Raamakrishna mission – Imagine these 15,000 datta devotes spending a few hours every weekend cleaning the city streets or some social work – It would be a great initiative and role model for others. However, a reply given by the Directorate, Karnataka State Archives, to a Right to Information (RTI) query suggests that it does.
In his RTI application on March 6, 2013, Firoz M. Khan, an RTI activist and litigant in a case pertaining to Bababudangiri shrine pending before the Supreme Court, sought copies of old records in the archives on the syncretic shrine atop the Bababudangiri hill.

Peoples Union for Human Rights (PUHR), a human rights organization, which toured the riot affected areas of Gujarat and closely examined the anti-Muslim riots there has published its report wherein it has been stated that in the whole of Gujarat it was a one-sided violence against Muslims wherein 500 mosques, ‘dargahs’ and ‘imam-baras’ were demolished and in their places religious places of the majority community were established. It is further stated in the report that during the riots the state ministers, MLAs and VHP leaders were sitting in the police control room and inciting and directing the rioters against Muslims and that the state government is fully responsible for anti-Muslim riots of Gujarat. The PUHR team which toured Gujarat consisted of 3 members led by its senior member and former President of JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) students union, Pranor Krishn.

As I wrote earlier, clearly something is wrong with sharia pandita. He keeps recycling a few things on this forum – Modi, Godhra, Purohita, Sadhwi etc!!! When we are talking about the current developments in Syria and Iraq, he goes all the way back to Godhra incident where a group from peaceful community poured fuel and burnt dozens of hindu kara sevakas inside a train!!! If I start listing the atrocities by peaceful community ever since godhra, I probably need a book!!! LOL
