Kolkata, Dec 20 (IANS) The Kolkata Maidan rose to thousands running around it, as the city’s denizens braved the early morning chill and came out in large numbers to take part in the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K run on Sunday.
The event witnessed 8,208 participants, including 996 athletes, in the 25K category. There were 2,859 in Open 10K, which is more than double that of last year and 3,996 in the Ananda Run.

The hustle-bustle near the Red Road, with people gathering in running shoes and other walking outfit, made the stretch an unlikely Sunday morning.

Also present at the event were cricketer Yuvraj Singh, actor Dev, and actresses Neha Dhupia, Rituparna Sengupta and Moubani Sarkar along with West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.
