2 Teens Gang-Raped In Front Of Friends In Delhi, 4 Detained
New Delhi: Two teenagers, 18 and 17, were gang-raped by four men in front of their male friends in Delhi last night.
The girls and two boys were out on a walk around 8.30 pm in an isolated area 2 km from a metro station when the four men attacked them.
The men allegedly saw one of the couples together and beat up the boys.
The attackers then took turns to rape the two girls in front of their friends, said a senior police officer.
They threatened the four teens and warned them against going to the police.
A medical examination has confirmed rape.
The police say four have been detained but they not ruling out the involvement of another man.
The incident revives questions on women’s safety in the capital four years after the horrific gang-rape on a moving bus of a young medical student who died 13 days later. The incident that came to be known as the “Nirbhaya gang-rape” provoked sweeping changes in laws on crime against women in India.
