46 militants killed in Afghanistan clashes

Kabul, June 12 (IANS) At least 46 militants were killed within a day in clashes with security forces and in airstrikes across Afghanistan, an official said on Sunday.

“Afghan security and defence forces conducted several military and cleanup operations, killing 46 militants, injuring 24 and detaining four others,” Xinhua news agency quoted an official as saying.

Besides seizing arms and ammunition, the forces killed a member of Haqqani network, Khalil, and 13 Islamic State militants during raids.

The official also confirmed the loss of 11 army personnel over the same period.
