24-year-old Woman dies after C-section at Puttur

Mangaluru: A 24-year-old woman died after undergoing a C-section operation at Dhanwanthari Hospital, here on July 27.

The deceased has been identified as Sabhira (24), wife of Ummer Shafi, a resident of Sullia.

Speaking to mangalorean.com Ummer Shafi said that on July 27, Sabhira was admitted for delivery at the Dhanwanthari Hospital. In the evening at around 5:45 pm, she underwent a Cesarian operation and gave birth to a baby boy. Since Sabhira was bleeding heavily after the C-section the doctor in the hospital advised Sabhira to be shifted to KMC hospital. We immediately brought Sabhira to the KMC hospital by 108 ambulance.

But when Sabhira reached the KMC Hospital in Attavar, she was pronounced brought dead. KMC hospital immediately intimated the Pandeshwar police as the patient brought to the hospital had already breathed her last. The child was also not fed for three hours after the delivery.

When mangalorean.com contacted the District health officer about the death of the mother after C-section, Dr Ramakrishna said that the family should act on it.
