3 Mangalorean Kids Drowned in Temple Pond in Ponda-Goa

Ponda: In a tragic incident reported at Bandora on Wednesday evening, three children met a watery grave in a lake near the Nagesh Temple. The three children namely Adithi Ventesh Bhat (12), Bhuvneshwar Ventesh Bhat (8) and Sravan Balkrishna Hola (7), who were playing near the lake, accidentally fell in it on Wednesday, 16 May 2018 at around 6 pm.

It is learnt that the family from Gurupura, Mangaluru comprising of nine members including senior citizen, his daughters and their children, had come on a visit to the Nagesh Temple. While their mothers namely Pritam Bhat and Priyanka Hola were inside the temple seeking the blessing of the deity, the children while playing near the lake into front of the temple accidentally fell in it and got drowned.

It is also learnt when Adithi cried for help, the other two children tried to help her but they too got drowned. Some of the locals, who were swimming in the lake failed to notice the children but a passerby noticed the kids struggling and raised an alarm. But it was too late as the children had breathed their last. Ponda Police conducted the panchanama and the bodies have been preserved in the Ponda Sub-District Hospital morgue.

Shocked over the incident, Ponda locals have demanded that railings be installed near the temple lake to prevent such incidents.
