52-year-old Man Found Hanging in Gurupur

Mangaluru: A 52-year-old man was found hanging in the forest area at Vikas Nagar, Gurupur, Kaikamba here on August 22.

The deceased has been identified as Melwyn D’Souza (52), a resident of Nagori.


Speaking to mangalorean.com Melwyn’s wife Merlyn said, “On August 21, at around 3:30pm, Melwyn took some of his clothes with him and said that he will be going to work and will return after one week. He also said not to call him as he would be busy with his work. I had gone to Mumbai for a week to meet my daughter working there and returned just yesterday (Aug. 21) morning”.

Merlyn further said, “When he left the house he was wearing a different set of clothes. He was a God fearing man and would not take such a drastic step to end his life”.

According to the police, the body was found hanging to a tree branch at Vikas Nagar, Gurupur, Kaikamba. The exact cause of the death will be ascertained only after a post-mortem. A death note was also recovered from the spot.

Bajpe police reached the spot, lowered the body and sent to the Government Wenlock hospital for post-mortem.

A case has been registered in the Bajpe police station.
