73 militants killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, Aug 26 (IANS) At least 73 militants have been killed as Afghan army waged operations in 16 out of the country’s 34 provinces since early Tuesday, the country’s Defence Ministry said on Wednesday.

“During Afghan National Army cleanup operations and airstrikes, 73 terrorists, were killed, 25 terrorists wounded and 12 others were detained over the past 24 hours,” Xinhua quoted the ministry as saying in a statement.

The ANA also seized weapons and defused several roadside bombs and landmines during the above operations, the statement added.

It also confirmed losing four army personnel as a result of militants’ firing and roadside bomb attacks during the same period.
