Atletico Madrid’s Griezmann named La Liga Player of the Season
Valencia, Oct 25 (IANS) Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann beat stars including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to be named La Liga player of the football season.
Atletico dominated the awards on Monday as Diego Simeone took the coach of the season award while Jan Oblak was named the best goalkeeper, reports Xinhua news agency.
Diego Godin was adjudged the top defender while Frenchman Griezmann claimed the fans’ award.
Barcelona’s Uruguay striker Luis Suarez was named the top non-European Union player and Real Madrid’s Luka Modric was named best midfielder.
Barca’s Argentina international Messi was selected as the best forward at the award ceremony here.
