‘About 250 Girls from City are Gang Raped Each Night’ – CEO of Rescue

“About 250 Girls from City are Gang Raped Each Night’ – Abishek Clifford, CEO of Rescue

Mangaluru : Addressing the media persons eloquently in Kannada language during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Bristish born Abishek Clifford, the CEO of RESCUE said, “Rescue is an NGO which conducts moral awareness programs in more than 200 colleges each year to about half a lakh students teaching against violent pornography, youth abortions, human trafficking, aids, irresponsible sexual behaviour and rape”. It is learnt that Clifford having done this survey was a statistics and ethics lecturer in London. Rescue has done moral awareness programs in 50 colleges in Mangaluru to 21,000 students in the last few months.

Following is the survey details that was furnished by Abishek Clifford, along with Vijithra-Executive member of Rescue, during the press meet to the media personnel :

The survey was carried out in 25 colleges in Mangaluru City to 470 students. Clusters of 1 class per college with a quota of 20 students per class were asked questions indirectly about their friends. EG: “What percentage of guys your age watch rape videos?” “How much porn do they watch each week?” Target age was 16-21.

Results : 68% of degree boy students watch 7 hours per week starting on average in year 10 and 28% of degree girls in Mangaluru City watching an average of 3 hours per week, 38% of the boys watch violent porn including on average 11 rapes per week! 1,900 new students start watching rape each year and during their PUC/HSS and Degree time they will have seen 2,900 rapes! 15,000*1 Rapes Are Viewed by this age group Every Day In Mangaluru City!

Does porn inspire rape and illicit activities? The Students certainly believe it does:

78% said that porn is progressive and addictive. 87% said porn leads to sexual activities and according to the students 32% are sleeping with their girl friend boy friend.

Youth Pregnancies increasing: according to our survey each year 1,000 girls this age in the City get pregnant + have an abortion.

– 82% said that watching rape gives the desire to actually rape someone. Even if only 10% act on this desire would mean that we are training up 160 new rapists a year in Mangaluru City

We do not allow the advertising of cigarettes on TV so why do we allow the advertising of rape and child molestation on the internet?

Maths*1 for 15,000 rapes per day: Mangaluru population 540,000 * 1.9% of pop in each year (2011 census) /2 (only boys) * 38 % boys watch rape * average 1.6 rapes per day watched * 5 years 16-21 age group

Recommendation: Block Any Web Site That Hosts Teen Porn / Rape Porn

Internet freedom promoters state their rights to watch porn in private, but the internet is not private, can be accessed by all, inc children 24/7. Those who do not want blocks on the net, do they also want no blocks on what can be shown in schools? Should Sunny Leonne be allowed to stirp in the school assemblies? This is what is viewed through their mobile phones. Do they want strip clubs in high streets? This is a double standard. We police the roads, business, films and must also police the internet. Why do we want to move away from civilized life and return to lawlessness in one area?

Rescue is doing a national survey. They have finished 4 states in south India and will be doing selected northen states and then will file PIL to request Gov to block all foreign web sites from Indian Net which host rape videos and molestation of minors. The 4 days national outcry last August showed that Gov of India has technology to easily block selected web sites.

Teen porn and Human Trafficking: About 250 girls from Mangaluru City are gang raped every night!

These are the young girls trafficked from this coastal city who in brothels are used (raped) by multiple guys each night. Human trafficking fuelled by youth porn is far worse a problem compared to the recorded much publicized rape epidemic. Calculated using interpolation of 4 recent national surveys on human trafficking of minors for sexual exploitation:

60 NCRB National Crime Records Bureau for 2014 approximately 21,000 (children under 12 and girls under 30 were abducted without specified) /12,907 lakh (pop India) *5 Lakhs

(pop Mangaluru City)=9 pa *7 yrs

110 NHRC 11,000 national human rights commission /550 lakhs population Karnataka*5.4 lakhs population Mangaluru city

230 BBA report 23,000 (Bachpan Bachao Andolan) /550*5.4

600 CBI13,00,000 pa India (CBI total trafficked children present in India) interpolation /12,907 lakh (pop India) *5.4 Lakhs (pop Mangaluru City )

So average 250 teenage girls from Mangaluru trafficked in last 6,7 years into brothels

What has led to this exponential increase in rape of children in brothels? Our survey suggests the answer:

50% boys watch ‘teen’ porn. 70% of the web sites they watch have teen (child) porn. 13,000 demanding teen porn => more girls are abducted to make this type of youth porn => human trafficking increase.

75% said that it inspires the use of prostitutes. 37% of these degree students go to prostitutes- 9,400 boys demanding and paying for young prostitutes (in Mangaluru) more Human Trafficking! Supply meets demand.

Further Recommendations :

Include Cyber Ethics in the syllabus: College students should be warned of the dangers of watching porn. Before our cyber ethics programs 18% of the girls said that porn is harmless and pre-marital sex with abortion is ok. After our programs only 5% still thought this, that is a 72% reduction of promiscuous attitudes through just one program!

Parental software freely available on the net will stop all porn sites, all porn popups and adds and all porn on You Tube (e.g. K9 free software). A letter should be sent to all high school children’s parents explaining how to use such apps on their children’s digital devices.

These Disturbing statistics are given to authorities including the police and those in education and demand serious debate and action. Unchecked, the consequences on Indian families, children and society will be devastating.

  1. Dear readers,

In defiance of statistics, Mohan Bhagwat, chief of the right-wing RSS or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), believes that rapes are an urban crime shaped by westernisation, and are not a matter of concern in rural India where traditional values are upheld.
Unfortunately this is also referred as intelligent citizens district. This is the same district even BJP’s own legislator caught watching illicit video within in the sanctity of the assembly.Even world watched girls being assaulted in the private property.
The city patrolled by moral police day and night, these statistics result are very alarming for the BJP future ‘smart city’ of India.

  2. Teens spend time watching porn? Shocking!!! What a ground breaking news!! LOL
Come on guys, even back in 80s, we had enough supply of hardcore porn literature available at local goodangadis!! Does anyone remember hardcore Surathi, Rativihaara to soft pornography of ‘Police Vaarthe” ???? The content varied from natural to highly perverted fantasies. LOL These magazines started their journey at local high schools and reached all the way to 4th standard kids!! It didn’t mean that these kids became sexually active. Trying to read and learn are the big part of natural curiosity in humans. Unlike in West, the lack of any privacy and strict supervision by parents/family friends provide a natural barrier to Indian teens from taking it too far.

I do agree that women trafficking is a serious issue in countries like India. However, it is because of illegal nature of prostitution. State should legalize prostitution and regulate it to address all the human rights abuse that go on under current system.

  3. Surathi…. rathi….. Police Vaarthe – goes on Rampa.

Lol! Looks like some peeping Tom was reading such stuff during school time. Well, to read such stuff, one needs sheer ‘class’! No wonder he never even completed his 4th std or so. And all that stuff shows out here after a good 30+ years!

    Good job!

  4. State should legalise prostitution- say Mr.Atheist Original pai

Sir,RSS chief says “Now the time has come when we have to tell the new generation to chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ (hail mother India). It also worship same Bharat Mata and chanted in its annual oath ceremony.
The RSS’s top leadership comprises only bachelors. Its pracharaks or apparatchiks, who are full-time workers, are bound by the RSS’ code to remain unmarried and not have sex. RSS has about 2,500-3,000 pracharaks who form the backbone of its leadership. They wield tremendous influence within the organisation and over the various affiliated bodies including the BJP.
The RSS is a hierarchical, rigid and top-down set-up. Its celibate apparatchiks are bound to support and propagate a worldview that’s patriarchal, authoritarian, sexist and anti-women.
It’s high time for the RSS to take substantive and meaningful reforms and break away from 90-year-old practices such as adherence to celibacy and chastity that are vestiges of the ugly past.
Don’t RSS leaders know that Hindu gods and goddesses were happily married and enjoyed a blissful family life?

It’s high time the saffron warriors broke away from a 90-year-old practice that only serves as a vestige of the ugly, celibate past.Instead of legalising prostitution,I request the celibate to come forward and adopt them as a legal wife.
Will our pro-RSS Mr.Original take the cause?

    Jai Hind
