Mangaluru: ACCE(I) MLR-UltraTech Awards Ceremony 2015 was Glamorous and Glittering

Mangaluru: The Association of Consulting Engineers (India) Mangalore Centre (ACCE(I) and UltraTech Cement Limited, jointly hosted the ‘ACCE(I) MLR-UltraTech Awards-2013’ on Tuesday 15 December 2013 at Loyola Hall, St Aloysius College Campus, Mangalore.

After seeking God’s blessings through a devotional song performed by “Shaads’ musicians, Er T Vinayak Pai-Chairman of ACCE(I) Mangalore Centre welcomed the gathering and introduced the dignitaries of the function to the gathering. The guests of honor of the evening were Er Ajith Sabnis-President, ACCE(I), Er Umesh B Rao-Secretary General, ACCE(I); Dr Ramachandra-Zonal Head Technical; Er Nagaraj S Tigadi-consulting Civil Engineer from Dharwad, among many others. The awards ceremony was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp by all the dignitaries of the function.

Er Nagesh Puttaswamy- Regional Head of UltraTech Cement Ltd gave a brief description of the company through audio visual presentation, where he said, ” The Company Unit Management fosters a culture of total integrity, credibility, trust, continuous learning, respect for individuals and all partners. It has formulated its own Vision and Mission in line with its Group objectives to drive growth and improvement. The Management believes in doing its activities in a systematic manner. As part of Corporate Social Responsibility, APCW is undertaking various initiatives in the field of Education, Infrastructure Building, Sustainable Livelihood, Health & Social Well-being in line with its Social vision and objectives in the surrounding community and villages.The unit received many recognitions and awards from various independent institutions for achieving excellence in its operations, productivity, energy reduction, etc.

The main purpose of organizing the Awards Ceremony programme was to encourage the engineers, architects, owners and contractors of these construction fraternity for their good quality, efficiency and innovative ideas. The programme was also organized to present the prestigious award to four different categories : Outstanding Concrete Structure in Multi Storey Building category within DK, Udupi and Shivamogga districts; Outstanding Residential Villa in DK district; Outstanding Residential Villa in Udupi district; and Outstanding Residential Villa in Shivamogga Districts.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on 82 years old Dr L R Kadiyali, originally from DK but now settled in Delhi.- He was honoured for the significant contribution made by him for the advancement in Concrete Technology in India. During his long service, he has worked as a site engineer, a research worker, a professor, a post graduate guide, a consultant, and an advisor. Dr. L.R. Kadiyali is a civil engineer with post-graduate qualification in Traffic Engineering and a doctorate. He has more than 50 years of professional experience in the fields of highway engineering, traffic engineering and transport planning. He has served in various capacities in the government, and has been intimately connected with the planning and design of transport facilities.

He was associated with the Road User Cost Study and its subsequent updation. At present, he heads his own consultancy organization dealing with highway, traffic and transportation engineering. He has conducted over 100 training programs on various aspects of Concrete Technology to train site engineers of major construction companies, Government, State Government departments and private contractors. He has also delivered over 150 technical lectures on the subject Concrete Technology and related topics to Architects, Builders, Structural consultants and other professional engineers, all over India.

In the Outstanding Concrete Structure-Multistorey Category-DK, Udupi and Shivamogga Districts, “Aristaa Enclave” owned by D B Mehta (He is also the Chairman of CREDAI-Mangaluru) of Allegro Builders and Developers bagged the award. Engineer of this project was (Dr) Er K S Babunarayan; Architects-Er Suresh Pai of M/S Nayak Pai and Associates; and Constructors-MFar Construction.

In the Outstanding Residential Villa in DK District- “Pompei Court” owned by builder Rohan Monteiro of Rohan Constructions bagged the award. Engineers for this residential project were : K Anil Hegde and Vimal anil; Architects: Gulshan Roy of Gulshan Architects Inc; Constructors: Mahabala M of M M Construction.

Er Nagaraj Thigadi, Er Umesh B Rao and Er Ajith Sabnis spoke during the occasion and complimented the board and members of ACCE(I) for a wonderful job in organizing such a systematic and glamorous award ceremony, which has pleased and entertained everyone. Er Mohammed Iqbal-Secretary of ACCE(I) Mangalore Centre proposed the vote of thanks. The glittering extravaganza was compered professionally by Miss Madhu Mailankody.
