Akhilesh mourns death of hockey legend Mohd Shahid

Lucknow, July 20 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday mourned the death of former Indian hockey captain Mohammed Shahid.

In a condolence message jere, Yadav said Mohammed Shahid would always be remembered for his unique style of playing.

Shahid was a resident of Varanasi and died earlier in the day in a Gurgaon hospital.

Shahid was part of the Gold medal-winning Indian hockey team at the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

He was awarded the Arjuna Award, Padma Shri and the Yash Bharati award.
