All MPs and MLAs should Resign for Solution to Mahadayi issue – Poojary

Mangaluru: Senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary held a press meet at the press club here on August 13.

Addressing the mediapersons Poojary said that the Mahadayi project is a big scam and it is a failure of the Central government as well as of the State government. People of the country are facing drinking water crisis and the Prime minister is not taking any measures to solve it. It is only a minutes work for the Prime minister to settle the Mahadayi river issue by discussing it with the chief ministers of Maharastra, Goa and Karnataka.

Poojary further said that the drinking water is the fundamental right of the people and it is the duty of the central and state governments to provide drinking water to the people of the country, whereas the central, as well as the state governments, have failed in this regard. In the past when there was a water crisis, the former prime ministers Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Morarji Desai had discussed the issue with the all the chief ministers and solved the problem. PM Modi should discuss this issue with all the chief ministers and find a solution to it. In case the prime minister will do it all the MLAs and MPs should resign. So that the Chief ministers and the prime minister will learn a lesson.

If all the MPs from Karnataka will resign the central government will surely collapse. In Karnataka too if all the MLAs resign the state government will also collapse.

Congress is not against Siddaramaiah or Narendra Modi but we are concerned about the 6 crore people of Karnataka who are facing drinking water problem. We want the CM and the PM to understand the problems of the people and take measures to solve them.

He also said, “The time is not good, the situation is also bad, when the time changes we too need to change. In our state, there are only two reservoirs and there is very less water in them, we need to interlink the rivers.

Poojary also said, “CM Siddaramaiah says he will not celebrate his birthday. not celebrating one’s birthday is not an achievement! I did not celebrate my birthday throughout my life, and I am still alive. Even my family members did not celebrate their birthdays. Why do we have to celebrate birthdays? Instead of celebrating birthday’s Siddaramaiah should think of the people of Karnataka and wipe out the tears”.

Arun Coelho and others were also present.
