Another rhino killed in Assam’s Kaziranga park

Guwahati, Nov 22 (IANS) Poachers killed yet another one-horned rhino at the Kaziranga National Park and took away its horn in the early hours of Sunday, taking the death count of the endangered species in Assam to 16 this year, park officials said.

The rhino’s carcass was found during a search operation on Sunday morning.

“There was heavy firing in Burhapahar range of Kaziranga since last night (Saturday). Although forest guards launched an operation, the poachers succeeded in killing the rhino, chopping the horn, and taking it away,” a park official said.
