Anti-rowdy Squad busts Drug Racket, 4 Inter-state Drug Peddlers Arrested

Mangaluru: In its biggest-ever drug seizure, the Anti-rowdy Squad seized a huge haul of banned narcotic substance worth over Rs 5.30 lakh from inter-state drug peddlers in City here on October 26.

The arrested have been identified as Nikhil K B (24) from Kasargod, Shravan Poojary (23) from Niddel Kulshekar, Roshan Veigas (22) from Kannur Kerala and Bashim Basheer (22) from Thrissur Kerala.

According to the police, on October 26, on getting reliable information that four youth are selling banned narcotic drugs such as Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, Methylene Dioxy Methamphetamine and Methylene Dioxy Methamphetamine tablets, the Mangaluru South Anti-rowdy Squad got into action and succeeded in arresting the inter-state drug peddlers.

The first accused Nikhil is pursuing 8th-semester, Engineering studies in a reputed College in the city and has failed in two subjects. The second accused Shravan Poojary has completed his engineering in 2015 and the third accused Roshan Veigas and Basim Basheer are pursuing third-year Medical Dental studies.

The Anti-rowdy squad arrested all the four youth and seized MDMA powder 9.00 gram, 185 MSD Stamps, MDM pills 25, one Electronic weighing scale, four mobile phones, one Yamaha bike, one Royal Enfield bike and 2 Hukka all worth Rs 5.3 lakh from their possession.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they were using the electronic weighing scale to weigh the drugs. The accused Nikhil was supplying banned drugs to the customers. The prime accused in this racket, will be arrested soon.

Under the able direction of Police commissioner T R Suresh, and under the guidance of DCP Law and Order Hanumantharaya, DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth, the operation was carried out by the ACP South Subdivision K Ramrao, Sundar Achar, Mohan K V, Girish Bengre, Ravinath Mulky, Sunil Kumar, Reji V M, Ravichandra Padre, Damodar, Rajaram Kootattaje, Mohammed Sheriff, Dayanand, Sudheer Shetty, Mahesh Kumar and Mohammed Iqbal.
