New Delhi, May 19 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the five assembly election results proved that people have strengthened their faith in the development agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“These results are very exciting for the BJP. I express my gratitude to the people of these five states. They have strengthened their faith in the BJP,” Modi said, addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters here.
He said the BJP winning majority and forming government in Assam was “surprising to many people as it was when we shared power in Jammu and Kashmir”.
“The poll results have shown that people have accepted the BJP’s agenda of development and that they are supporting it.”
Modi also thanked the people of five states including Assam, West Bengal and Kerala for reposing faith in the party and said the renewed mandate will give the party “more strength” to work for all round development of the country.
“This mandate will give BJP more strength and energy. The mandate endorses BJP’s ideology of development. BJP is getting more and more support from the people,” he said.
Earlier on his arrival at the party headquarters, Prime Minister Modi was received by BJP president Amit Shah with an Assamese gamchha (towel) and the traditional hat Japi.
Later, Modi took part in BJP parliamentary board meeting.
