Bantwal: A private bus plying from Uppinangady towards Mangaluru collided head-on with a bike at Bollakallu of Budoli village near Mani on NH 75 on Thursday.
The bike with the rider got stuck under the bus. The collision resulted in a fire in the diesel tank. The passengers were immediately made to alight and they remained safe.
The only unfortunate casualty was the bike-rider, Chetan, hailing from Haleneranki in Uppinangady. The driver of the bus has sustained injuries and he has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.
The bus was totally reduced to a skeletal state by the fire. The firemen arrived from Bantwal and prevented the flames from spreading around.
The traffic was disrupted for about two hours. The Vittal police have registered a case.
