Bantwal: Dowry-related Harassment to Wife – Sajipa Resident Reportedly Absconding in Dubai

Bantwal: A complaint has been received by the police here against a man and his family regarding harassment to his wife for additional gold and dowry within one and a half year of their marriage.

The wife of Badruddin, residing in Sajipa, has stated that he worked in a gold shop in Dubai. At the time of their marriage in 2014, her family had given him a hundred sovereign gold and Rs 10 lakh in the form of dowry.

Soon after marriage, he had taken her to Dubai on a visit for a short period. After her return, she has stated in complaint, his family members – father Abdul Qader, mother Saramma, brother Tahir and his wife Shamima and Tahir’s brother-in-law Saiduddin bin Haider – began physically and mentally harassing her, with demand for more dowry.

After leaving her at his home, Badruddin has gone back to Dubai with his brother, according to her. She has informed the police that he was planning to abandon her and live away from her in Dubai.

She has urged the police to take action against him and give her justice. The police have registered a case.
