Bantwal: A cargo-laden lorry that left Mangaluru in the early hours of Saturday broke down at the Narahari hill point between Bolangadi and Kalladka around 7-30 am.
Traffic from both directions got blocked. As the cops had to arrive from Bantwal, commuters in hundreds got stranded. Students, office-goers and businessmen alike faced hardships at a place there are not even any shops around.
A lot of them resorted to walking it out to Melkar and Kalladka to take up alternative transport. A few ambulances and government vehicles carrying officials also faced the heat of the situation.
By 10-00 am, the lorry was moved by the police and the jam slowly melted down. Those commuting from and to Bengaluru have been facing problems over the past few days. Mishaps, tanker toppling and causing leakage hazards and the like have been regular roadblocks for them.
