Bantwal: Madoor Yusuf’s Aide Riaz, on Arrival from Abroad, Surrenders in Court, Secures Bail

Bantwal: Riaz, aka ‘Mafatlal’ Riaz, who had reportedly been absconding over the past five years, arrived from abroad on Dec 29.

On Dec 30, he appeared with his lawyers in the JMFC court here and surrendered. The court granted him bail.

He is said to be an associate of underworld don Madoor Yusuf (Isubu), who died in the Mangaluru jail after a scuffle recently. He had been accused of involved in many criminal acts along with Yusuf.

He is the main accused in the case of a shootout in the jewellery shop belonging to Suresh Baliga here a few years ago. He has been charged with supplying the firearm used in the shootout.

The district police had been on the lookout for him ever since 2009. Madoor Yusuf, who had created scare and fear in the district some years ago, also had absconded. But he was brought back from Saudi Arabia in 2009. But Riaz had remained at large until now.

He surrendered in the court direct on Wednesday. His lawyers Imtiaz Bantwal, Malik Ansar and Zeeshan Ali Suratkal argued for his bail which was granted with conditions.
