Manjula of the DCIB and her team stopped at the junction as he arrived from Melkar in a Bajaj Pulsar bike. He stopped the vehicle and started running.

He was caught and interrogated. He admitted to having stolen the bike which had its ignition key in the slot while being parked near the Empire mall in Mangaluru.

After further interrogation at the police station, he provided the details of other thefts. Eight months ago, he had lifted a Bajaj Pulsar bike from Tippu Nagar in Loretto Padavu and tried to sell it. When no buyer was coming forth, he used it for a month and then abandoned it in Bambila near here.

Earlier he had stolen many vehicles including a bike in Bunder and a car belonging to an advocate in Bantwal. He had been jailed for some time and had come out. But he seems to have continued his occupation.
