Bantwal: Murder Accused Attempting to Fly Abroad on Fake Passport Held at Airport

Bantwal: The rural police led by sub-inspector A K Rakshit on Tuesday arrested Haneef (33) aka Mohammed Haneef aka ‘Chotte’ Haneef from Maripalla from the Mangaluru international airport.

He was the prime accused in the case of murder of Rifai, an autorickshaw driver. He had obtained a conditional bail from the state high court. He is said to have got a passport done in a fake address in Mysuru in 2008.

Based on this information, a lookout notice had been issued to all airports. When Haneef arrived at the Mangaluru airport, the authorities identified him and informed the Bantwal rural police, who subsequently arrested him.

On being produced in a court, he has been sent to judicial custody.
