Bantwal: SVS College Student Assaulted on Petty Pretext – Complaint Filed

Bantwal: Siddiq (17), hailing from Loreto and studying in II PUC at the SVS College here, was assaulted by a present student and three past students on Wednesday.
A complaint to this effect has been filed in the police station here. The assault was for flimsy reasons. Siddiq had taken part in an NSS camp last month. He had answered the questions in the quiz, which was not liked by a few. After the camp, one Nitish had threatened him over it.
A complaint was made to the principal who spoke to the concerned students and the matter was closed.
But there was flare-up again on Wednesday, when Siddiq was leaving the college. Ashin and Shravan who were in I PUC last year and Ajit and Charan are said to have arrived in two bikes and assaulted him and also threatened to kill him, says the complaint.
A lecturer told our correspondent that student unions affiliated to different political parties are the cause for such rift. While those remaining behind the screen are safe, it is the young teenagers minds which are poisoned with hate which could put their future in jeopardy with criminal records.
