Bantwal: Theft of Rs 5 Lakh in Cash from Badakabail Shop in Badagabelloor

Bantwal: Vishwanath Poojary, owner of Rajashri General Store in Badakabail in Badagabelloor village in the taluk has filed a complaint of theft at the rural police station here.

He had kept Rs 5 lakh in cash in the shop on Friday night when closing it after business. It was to be paid in connection with a deal concerning purchase of land. When he opened the shop on Saturday morning, the front door was seen half open and the cash was missing.

While leaving on the earlier evening, he had kept the key in a polythene bag and it had gone missing. The person who got the key is suspected to have committed the theft.

The suspicion that someone familiar stole the money was strengthened by the fact that the wads of currency were taken away from behind the refrigerator where they were kept for safety, while everything else was found untouched.
