Bantwal: Yakshagana Artiste from Perla Dies in Bus-bike Collision near Narahari Hill

Bantwal: Vasanta Kumar (26), a Yakshagana artiste from Perla in Kasaragod district, died in a road mishap near Narahari hill on the national highway stretch between Panemangaluru and Kalladka on Thursday night.

He worked as a mechanic in a tyre shop in Vittal and was a member of Kateel Yakshagana troupe 2. After duty on Thursday evening, he was riding his bike towards Mangaluru, on his way to take part in a Yakshagana show to be held in Basrur in Kundapur taluk.

As he approached Melkar, he tried to overtake a bus at the Bolangadi curve and hit it. Falling on the road, he was run over by the wheels of the bus.

Traffic was blocked for some time. The town and traffic police arrived and cleared the logjam.
