Beltangady: 29-year-old Youth Hostel Trekker from City Dies of Cardiac Arrest

Beltangady: Ashil (29), son of Alwyn Anand of Konchadi in Mangaluru, died of cardiac arrest near here while on the way from a trekking mission on Sunday.

He was employed with a travel agency in Mangaluru. He and a few of his friends from the Youth Hostels Association of India had made it a routine to go on trekking missions to different spots at regular intervals. They had covered many mountainous spots so far.

This time around they had selected Ambatemale in Neria and a group of 31 had arrived from Mangaluru in a mini-bus and an Innova car. While returning from the trek, Ashil suffered a cardiac arrest right inside the forest and died.
