Beltangady: Man Shoots Himself after Chopping Hands of Anganwadi teacher

Beltangady: A 40-year-old man killed himself after chopping the hands of Anganwadi teacher at Dharmasthala here on December 3.

The deceased has been identified as Umesh Gowda (40), a resident of Neriya.

According to sources, Umesh was in love with Honnamma (36) and had also proposed to her, but due to some reasons Honamma’s family did not agree to get their daughter in marriage to him. Umesh losing hopes of marrying Honnamma, started to drink alcohol and later got addicted to it.

On December 3, Umesh being drunk came to Honnamma’s Anganwadi School with a sickle and tried to chop off Honnamma’s hands. Honnamma ran for her life and locked herself inside a classroom. After sometime Umesh committed suicide by shooting himself.

Later the public gathered and rushed Honnamma to the hospital. A case has been registered in the Beltangady police station.
