Beltangady: Man who Barged into Police Station Rearrested on Fresh Threat Charge

Beltangady: Dayananda, a textile trader and a self-styled head of a human rights organization, accompanied by three others, had barged into the town police station here last week and threatened the cops by flashing a firearm.

The four had been arrested and produced in a court here thereafter. They had been sent to judicial custody.

On Monday, Dayananda secured a bail from the court. In a dramatic move, the police arrested him again as he faced a fresh charge of threat to life.

The car driven by Dayananda had hit a lorry in Kinnigoli near Maddadka of Kuvettu village in the taluk. Dayananda reportedly pointed his revolver at the driver and threatened him, according to a complaint file by the driver.
