Beltangady: Poacher Held for Hunting Sambar, Three Flee, Carcass Seized

Beltangady: The wildlife conservation officials of the department of forests detected a group engaged in poaching animals in the restricted national park area in the taluk on Friday night.

They arrested Jagadish aka Biju (45) of Malenkallu Nellyadi. The carcass of a hunted sambar, a gun and live ammunition have been seized from the vehicle they were in.

In the meantime, three others with him, Abdul Rahiman (45) of Hosamajalu in Kaukradi, Hyder Ali (38) of Kuntalpalke in Mundaje and Rafiq (40) of Nellyadi managed to escape from being caught.

Jagadish was produced in court and was sent to judicial custody.
