Her mother Monakka from Mani has complained to the police seeking an investigation. She said that her daughter was very attached to the child and a case of suicide was unthinkable.

Shakuntala’s brothers too have said that their sister was not a mindset to end her life. Taking into consideration the appearance of the room, the possibility of the a suicide was remote, they said. Therefore, they have demanded a thorough investigation.
