Bengaluru: Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji Appears in First ACMM Court

Bengaluru: The CID has filed a 1,300-page chargesheet against Shri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji in connection with the complaint filed by a former female Ramakatha vocalist.

The court of the first additional chief metropolitan magistrate had insisted on the presence of the Swamiji, even while it had earlier granted anticipatory bail to him. The CID submitted to the court saying that the accused was dodging medical tests as required by the conditions for bail, and hence the bail be cancelled.

Since further proceedings were found beyond the jurisdiction of the ACMM court, the case had to be transferred to a higher court. In order to complete the formalities connected with the process, the Swamji had been summoned in person.

On Friday, he presented himself in the court and the process of transfer was set in motion. He had to appear in the morning session. But his advocates submitted to the court that he had to fulfil his puja obligations in the morning, he would arrive in the afternoon.

When he appeared in the court in the afternoon, he was asked by the court, if a copy of the chargesheet had been made available to him. He answered in the affirmative.

At the same time, he submitted a fresh bond for Rs 2 lakh and two sureties for the bail. The advocate for the CID argued that since the condition for bail by cooperating with the investigation had been violated and hence the bail be cancelled. The court took cognizance of it.
