Bengaluru: Seven Die on Christmas Eve

Bengaluru: Christmas Eve turned to be a nightmare for seven, including a family of four as a neem tree fell on the tempo traveler they were travelling in. The incident took place in Boodagatti near Guttal in Haveri taluk here, on December 24.

The tempo they were traveling was Guttal bound. A sand-laden lorry rammed into a neem tree and it fell on the MUV they were travelling in killing four of them on the spot and three others succumbed to their injuries in hospital. Twelve others were injured.

According to sources, the deceased have been identified as, Adivekka Bharamappa Talawar (45), Nagappa Hanumanthappa Talawar (65), Ningappa Hanumanthappa Talawar (50), Basavanthappa Puttappa Bhajantri (45), Bharamavva Yellappa Udachammanavar (35), Gowramma Undyappa Bannimatti (50) and a woman whose identity was not yet known.

Guddappa Phakirappa Hullur and Imam Sab Hiremugaduru have sustained major injuries, they have been shifted to Karnataka Institute of Medical Science.
