Bengaluru: Youth Kidnaps Own Brother To Fuel His Lavish Lifestyle

Bengaluru: A kidnapping bid to extort money from his uncle to fuel his lavish lifestyle has landed a twenty-five year old youth behind bars.

According to sources, Jain Harish Kumar and his associate Mohammed Moinudeen alias Wasim (23) have been arrested by the Byatarayanapura police on December 10. They had kidnapped Harish’s brother Amith Kumar (21). It is suspected that Harish wanted to rob his father but took the kidnapping route out of fear.

The police said that Harish and Amith were employed in a jewellery shop in the city. Harish sought help from his friend Wasim to extort money from his uncle Kethan Kumar, an owner of a city based jewel shop. They had kidnapped Amith on December 7 to fuel their lavish lifestyles. The accused had taken the victim to Madikeri and Mysuru after abducting him and called Kethan, demanding a ransom of Rs 5 crore.

An investigating officer said that Kethan had complained when he got the call demanding ransom. The police soon took the case of abduction and managed to nab the two. “Our investigation zeroed in on Harish since his behavior was odd. So we took him to custody for questioning and he spilled the beans. Further probe is on,” added the police.
