Bhatkal: Two dead, three injured in car-truck collision at Ankola

Bhatkal: In a ghastly collision between a car and a truck, two persons were killed and three others sustained injuries on NH 63, Hebbul near Ankola here on Friday, September 18.

According to sources, the deceased have been identified as Fayaz Shabandri (20), s/o Fazlur Rehaman, and Sayad Ahamed (45), both residents of Bhatkal. Fayaz was a second year engineering student at Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management Bhatkal.

The car is said to have been on its way to Hubli from Bhatkal. The oncoming truck collided head-on with the car.

Three other passengers in the car – Javed Kola (50), Fazulrehaman Shabandri (60) and Rinku – who sustained serious injuries were shifted to hospitals in Udupi and Kundapur.

A case has been registered in the Ankola police station.
