Blasts, gunbattle at Afghan parliament 

Kabul, June 22 (IANS) A string of explosions occurred near the Afghan parliament complex, followed by a raging gunbattle on Monday, media reports said.

The parliament complex is located in the capital’s Darul Aman area, known for housing government buildings.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.

According to an Al Jazeera report, some members of parliament were able to leave the building, while others remain in the building’s basement.

An official said that over six blasts were heard at the gate of parliament, Xinhua reported.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the ongoing attack, Khaama Press reported.
