Brother of Afghanistan envoy to India killed

Kabul, Dec 16 (IANS/AKI) The elder brother of Afghanistan’s ambassador to India, Shaida Mohammad Abdali, has been shot dead in Kandhar province, a media report said on Wednesday.

Sardar Mohammad Khan was killed on Monday in a mosque in Kandahar, the provincial governor’s spokesman, Samim Khpalwak, said.

Police were hunting for the gunmen who fled after the attack, Khpalwak said.

The Taliban did not immediately claim the attack, the latest in a series of killings targeting government officials, tribal elders and other prominent figures in Kandahar.
