A Tribute -To All Mothers

Mother of mine, you gave to me
All of my life to my life to do as I please
I owe everything I have to you
Mother –sweet mother of mine.

How seldom do we realize the true meaning of these words! I for one rejoice at being enlightened with their meaning with the gift of motherhood. Motherhood a bane for many but a boon for me!! As I now live a roller-coaster life of moments filled with joy, anxiety, happiness, fear of the unknown, pride and every other emotion one can describe, my mother who is currently with me is reliving a past- a past accompanied with a sense of fulfillment. Life has truly come a full circle for her.

In the cold selfish world of today, how very difficult it is for the spirit of sacrifice, love and selflessness to surface, forget grow; yet these are the very qualities that every mother gives to her children without any exception and expectation. Yet how many relations, in-laws, friends, children or even spouses appreciate the hard work, care, sacrifice and maybe even prayer involved in being a mother, forget them even considering you coming close to a good one!

....Why isn't every day that we have been gifted with a mother be a cause for celebration like the so called Valentines Day or a Fathers Day or even a Secretaries Day?....

It's because of this very attitude that we hear jokes made that children imbibe all the good qualities from the father and all the bad ones from the mother. We however tend to forget that it is mother who can make or break you and it is she who will always be there from the womb tomb as it is she who is a child's best friend (of course lets keep in mind single fathers of today).

It takes a commercially minded individual to remind us to "celebrate" Mothers Day. Why isn't every day that we have been gifted with a mother be a cause for celebration like the so called Valentines Day or a Fathers Day or even a Secretaries Day? Why don't we learn to appreciate their value instead every day they are around or are we all such hypocrites that we live behind masks and shower false affection and praise? Do we remember our mother’s only on such days while on other’s she can be in a 'HOME' for all we care. I must at least give credit to whoever thought of this concept for one reason only- it helps to bring a smile to all mother far and near be it for one fleeting moment.

In conclusion I would like to thank my dearest mother who has given all she could (and is still doing so) to make me who and what I am. Today along with her I salute all mothers. Keep it up! Well done! It can truly be said 'The Hand that Rocks the Cradle – Rules the World!!'

Hi Charmaine,

Your article was very nice. Really, we do take our parents for granted. It is days like Mothers Day or Fathers Day that prompt us to appreciate their presence and importance in our lives.

Nice article Charmaine.

Mother's are remembered every moment in our life. 'Mother's Day' is only to express our gratitude and bring a ray of smile on their face, and to remind them that their children did not forget their Mom's sacrifice. Sweet memories.
Amarnath Bantwal, Kuwait:
Rocks the world indeed Charmaine...

Very neatly written, Happy Mothers day to you!

By the way, did you and Darryl plan to belt out each other? :)
