Prostitution is only business carried out from centuries, and a business which still continues, a topic which is highly debatable on all platforms.

I was traveling from Nairobi to Dubai, and had to spend around 5hrs approximately in the flight just doing nothing!! Earlier at the airport I saw a Girl in her late 20’s bidding bye to her Mom and 2 little sisters who am sure were in their teens, Was a sad sight As I remembered myself biding bye to my loved once at times flying from my Home town Mangalore!

Melanka was her name and she was seated on 5A while I was on 5C, as the aircraft made a move in to the air space of Kenya….with nothing to do I started up a conversation with her. As the conversation went on, we started to speak about our profession, She told me she was working for a coffee shop in Dubai and had to support her Mom and two sisters who were studying. We discussed a lot of issues around the globe from Obama to Osama…..which also included recession, salaries, and living standards in Dubai…..she was clear on her talks that apart from her coffee shop business and selling shisha, she was into a business which could afford her family back in Africa!!

Now what do you call this….some people would definitely say she is not a right girl…. A few would say character less….some would say she could do a better job….But I would add was just the time she was in!!

Back in my younger days, in my Home town lived a mother of two girls (aunty Cleta) whose husband had abandoned her…..with no foresight of future, the mother of two led her life working for a firm….She was an entertainer to boss….and had to be his wife in absence of his wife in the office….The whole Town spoke ill about her, but she put down her head and worked to give her daughters the best in life….Years passed and the daughter grew….But the mother was so protective that she saw that her daughters would not walk in the shade of such hungry men…Same town lived a sea man’s wife with two daughters…..A big Bungalow….Lots of Money earned spending life in the sea…….without Family, Friends, No Xmas, no New Years, No Easters but a man earning for his family in the high seas….. Mother of two had all worldly pleasures….Friends, Parties, Clubs….Big cars used to drop the lady home late nights….Lot of leading Business men, Known figures of town used to be her guests living her house at the wee hours of morning…. But for the fact whole town never pointed fingers on the high society lady…though she was just the same like the other mother (aunty Cleta).

A lady on a poverty line is looked below as a Loose Character, while a lady from a cream society is looked over with respect…..though both do it for different reasons…..one for need and one for fun!

With all this I would also narrate a similar incident. I was back from a late night Party in Bangkok, and while the taxi I was traveling waited at a signal I saw a pregnant lady come clean the rear and front glass of the car, and taking a few tips from the driver….While at the same signal saw a few girls standing on the foot path looking for a customer!  Two different ladies one making easy money while another taking home hard earned money for the little angel inside…….

Nakul Shetty, India :
Well.. This is the societal hypocrisy, that we have to live with. The morals of the have's and the have not's are no different. It is the struggling middle class that are judged for their actions. Historically it has been this way, there are a lot of women who threw themselves at the kings and princes for favors. Even now we have married and well off women who lala with politicians and curry favors. This is exactly why morals have degraded. Every one is greedy and corrupt and all this to be on the other end of the spectrum to exploit the 'favor' bit.
I think loose character is a thing of the past. It is now a quality to be upwardly mobile.
I think it is evolution, these twist and turns is what brings out the mythical 'amruth', so hopefully going forward we will get to a better place.
Corruption is being dealt with sternly. Let us work this out first, the other will get in line automatically.
A. S. Mathew, USA :
Prostitution is the oldest business in the world and many are entangled in that dangerous business of life, either through unavoidable circumstances or through their own decision to make an easy living while
enjoying the pleasure of sex life. The
society has became extremely self-centered,and it won't bother the vast majority of the people when they see the neighbour is sick or their children are forced into prostitution as the sole avenue to survive.

As MR. VIKRAM SHETTY has clearly indicated; our whole society is driving in the wrong direction, and the worship of wealth and fame have gone overboard while the ethics and
morality are of zero value in the world in which we live. Until the compassionate hearted people will try to take care of one person at a time, this problem can't be solved. Until we are totally influenced by the divine compassion, we will be cold-hearted and reluctant to stretch our hands to help a needy person.
Nithin Shetty, USA :
Rightly pointed out the superficiality of this present society to draw moral conclusions on a person's work. who are we to judge anything.
Vikram Shetty, Dubai, UAE:
An relevant article being written by Mr.Arjun Pinto in the present times as today our scoiety in India has become very superficial whereby they are ready to pay a huge amount of money to a few eminent personalities in the Bollywood film industry to act as brand ambassadors for their products although in their real personal life these so called charming personalities might be having a "Live in Relationship" with their respective loved ones thereby setting wrong precedents and norms in our society and at the same time misguiding the future young generations of our society that we as Indians can acceept all the misguided values of the Western culture and call ourselves as Indians.
