Mangalorean.com is proud to introduce futuristic, enterprising, spirited, ever smiling personality of Mr. S. Ganesh Rao, Founder of Karavali Group of colleges, a classic example of hope, determination and achievements. He has struggled to be what he is today.  The saga of determination has brought to him the prestigious M.M Academy International award for his achievements in the areas of untapped professional education, Aryabhata award for excellence in the field of education, "Hridayavahinni Rajyotsava award", "Sadana award", and "Outstanding Young Person" award by Jaycees. In spite of stiff professional schedules he also squeezes in time for various socio-cultural engagements.

From a humble beginning and with the honour of being the first University affiliated and recognized Design College in India, established by him in the name of G.R. Education Trust, The Karavali College came into existence in 1996.

It was the first college, which provided the courses on Fashion Designing in the entire India. The basic concept was to do justice to Mr. Rao's field, which was a turn from Industry to Education.  It is an industry-based course and he became Academionist rather than Industrialist because he had interest in this subject.  He had professional Knowledge in both practical and theory. He studied student’s problem, their behavioral problem, University and Government system as to how it operates, etc.  When he started studying the various problems, he got interest in other fields too and he started two courses – B.Sc. in Fashion designing and B.Sc. in Garment designing.  With this, he became educationist because of his in-depth involvement in the Educational activities of Student's welfare, overall growth of students, development of infrastructure like hostels, and high commission embassy. Hence, overall, he has become expert in educational field.  He has transformed the knowledge into practical theories and has come out with great success.

While starting MSW course, he studied the student's problem, developed the infrastructure and infused it with positive attitude and society friendly attitude by making the students feel self-confidence. "They don't violate any rules and regulations, whereas, we are motivating every student to be constructive and productive. We always teach them not to blame others and how to have right approach towards the goal. Also, always have a smile on their face." Says Mr. Rao

Karavali stands 1st in all culture not only in academics but also in other curricular activities. It is the balance of overall growth. Their only aim is that students should be confident; there must be overall development, discipline, and social reputation. "Industries have recognized our talents and dedication." Says Mr. Rao.

The college presently offers Mangalore University affiliated job oriented courses as varied as B.Sc Interior Design, B.Sc Fashion Design, B.Sc Garment Design, M.S.W, Hotel Management Degree, BCA, BBM, D.Ed and B.Ed. Apart from this, college also offers B.Sc. Nursing and B.Pharm affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science. The continuous 100 percent results almost in all the courses speak volumes about the quality of education offered. The 100 percent placement of its students clearly reveals the commitment of Mr. Rao in achieving his objectives. Indeed for the younger generation Rao’s trailblazing track record is an inspiration to follow. Excerpts from the interview

What inspired you to start these Educational Institutes?

Firstly, I was in interior designing like taking contracts for interior decorations, while executing some major projects; I have identified and understood the various burning issues like lack of expertise that is professionalism, in Interior Fashion Designing. So, I started discussing this matter with the seniors around India with all the reputed persons, the entire feed back was that they criticize for not having a course like Fashion designing in India and like having other regular courses like BA, B.Com etc.  Seeing the entire scene it was almost like blaming. Why to blame others, why not we struggle and start such a course. So, I took up this challenge and naturally we prepared the syllabus of Fashion Designing and the Mangalore University as per their regulations reviewed it.  Eventually, I started MSW course and now we offer B.Pharm, BBM, B.PED, B.ED, D.ED, and Hotel Management etc.

We have unanimously agreed that we are uncrowned leaders.  I’m not disputing with anybody and I have great respect to all the institutions. Nowadays, we are crediting ourselves with success in every field and we are committed to it.  We don’t dare to take any jokes we are maintaining the challenge.

How do you contribute towards the weaker section?

There are scholarship schemes whereas Govt Quota is not available, nearly 32-40% of seats are reserved for them, and they are given concession seats regardless of their caste and creed.

Mr. Rao's message to Mangalorean.com readers:

Be Positive, productive, happy and constructive. Don't be afraid of criticism; they are our friends unless they are preoccupied. Have always a smile on your face!

Mangalorean.com wishes Mr. S Ganesh Rao all the very best in his future endeavors.
