BSF seizes 6 kg silver from Bangladesh border  

Kolkata, June 7 (IANS) The Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday seized nearly 6 kg silver worth over Rs.2 lakh while it was being smuggled to Bangladesh from West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, an official said.

The seizure of nearly six kg of silver granules was made by the troopers of 43rd battalion near the Madhubana border outpost.

“During a special operation, a BSF team challenged a man going towards the international border with a sack. While he managed to escape, we have seized 5.98 kg of silver granules worth over Rs. 2.30 lakh,” an officer said.

The BSF has seized nearly 105 kg of silver worth over Rs.32 lakh and apprehended four smugglers across its South Bengal frontier so far this year.
