Burglars Decamp with Gold Ornaments and Cash from Melkar House

Bantwal: Burglars entered a house and decamped with gold ornaments and cash at Bogodi, Melkar during the wee hours of November 4.

The house belongs to Abubakar, Bogodi Melkar.

According to Abubakar, the tile work on the first floor of his house was in progress and a ladder was placed there for the labourers to carry out the work without entering the house. On Thursday evening after finishing the work, they had closed the first-floor door from the outside and left. But the occupants of the house forgot to lock the door from inside. The Burglars took advantage of the situation and easily entered the house through the first floor. They entered the bedroom, after ransacking the cupboards, decamped with 24 sovereigns of gold and Rs 14,000 cash kept it in the cupboard.

The occupants of the house were sleeping in another room during the time of the incident.

On November 4, morning when the family members went to the room they saw the wallet and other belongings scattered on the floor. When they checked the cupboard the gold ornaments and cash was missing. Immediately they informed the police.

Bantwal Town station police Sub-inspector Gangadhar and team reached the spot for investigation. A canine squad and finger print experts were also called to the spot. It is suspected of the involvement of locals in the crime.

A case has been registered in Bantwal Town police station.
