Calcutta premier football league: East Bengal begin with 1-0 win

Kolkata, Aug 8 (IANS) Defending champions East Bengal began their campaign for their sixth consecutive title with a 1-0 win over Tollygunge Agragami 1-0 in the Calcutta Premier Division A soccer league here on Saturday.

Playing in their club ground before a capacity crowd of 20,000, East Bengal struck the winner in the 79th minute through Harmanjot Singh Khabra.

The first half was scrappy with both sides trying to take control of the midfield.

East Bengal dominated the second session and Khabra nodded in the winner off a cross by Dong Hyun Do.
