Car – Auto head-on Collision, one dead five critical

Uppinangady: At least five persons have been injured and one dead in an Autorickshaw and Ritz car head-on collision at Kemmattemaru, Kaliya Village in Guruvayanakere here on September 11.

The deceased has been identified as Veena (35) wife of Kamalaskha, and the injured have been identified as Kamalaksha (40), Rakshith (10), Gayatri (15), all from Koranja Gerukatte and Devaki (23) and her son Akshay (7) from Punkedadi, Gerukatte.

According to sources, on September 11, Kamalaksha along with his family were on the way to Gerukatte from Guruvayanakere in their autorickshaw. When they reached near Kemmattemar, a Ritz car coming from the opposite direction crashed into the autorickshaw head-on. The impact was such that the autorickshaw was totally damaged and the passengers along with the driver were thrown out of the Auto and severely injured.

The injured were rushed to the hospital but Kamalaksha’s wife Veena breathed her last on the way. After the first aid in Belthangady hospital, all the injured were shifted to the hospitals in Mangaluru.

All the five injured are said to be in critical condition. The Belthangady police have reached the spot and registered a case.
