Udupi: Breaking his silence on the letter  he had written to Ministry of Highways to construct Foot-over-Bride instead of underpass at Ambalpady junction, Former MP Jayaprakash Hegde said that a cattle pass measuring 4*3.5 meters was to be constructed at the  Ambalpady junction which would have created hurdles for commuters. No Underpass measuring 10 meters was proposed in the plan, but it was the cattle pass that was proposed in the plan.

In a press meet held at Udupi Press Club here on March 7, Hegde said that he had written a letter to former Union minister Oscar Fernandes who was then transport minister for construction of foot over bridge instead of the cattle pass. A light motor vehicle can only pass in a cattle pass, which would create hurdles to commuters causing traffic issues. I have information that the final accord is not granted for the proposed plan.

I would suggest the construction of a underpass which measures 10 meters, the construction of the cattle pass will create further hurdles. The proposed cattle pass will lead to water clogging and stagnation. I have also requested NHAI for the construction of a Foot-Over-Bridge near SMS College Bramhavar. I am ready for a debate on my letter proposing the foot-over-bridge at Amabalpady junction with the people, he added.
The applications for 94CC and 94C have not yet been received by the authorities due to software issues. Government should also pass an order on 9/11, the issues with 9/11 still persist. BPL cards have been replaced with APL cards, the race for distributing BPL cards seem to have found end.

“If I was not expelled, we (Congress) would have retained 15-16 seats, said Hegde. After the MLC election results were declared, Byndoor MLA Gopal Poojary had approached me to join back to the Congress, he had even said that he would arrange for a dialogue with the Chief Minister”. “I have not defeated Congress, but voters have defeated them”, he added.

Prashanth Kalmadi and Godwin Menezes and others were present.
