CCB Police Arrest 7 for Robbery Plot at Bejai

Mangaluru: The CCB police have arrested seven persons for allegedly plotting to execute a robbery opposite to the Big Bazar, here on October 18.

The arrested have been identified as Preetham Poojary (23) from Kavoor, Vishal Kumar (23) from Kunjathbail, Gautham Devadiga (23) from Derebail Konchadi, Vinod Raj (21) from Moodshedde, Divakar (29) from Edurupadav Moodshedde, Pravan (25) from Thokkottu and Karthik (25) from Yeyyadi.

According to the police, on October 18, at around 4:40 pm, on getting reliable information that 6 to 7 youth on motorbikes were allegedly plotting to execute a robbery near Big Bazar. The CCB police got into action and arrested all the seven. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they were planning robbery on the orders of undertrial prisoner Sharan alias Rohidas from Akash Bhavan. The CCB police seized weapons, 3 two-wheelers and 6 mobile phones from their possession.

Preetham Poojary is involved in various crimes, a case of extortion, dacoity and threat have been registered against him in Urwa, Barke and Kavoor police stations. Another accused Vishal Kumar is also involved in crime and 2 cases have been registered against him in the Barke and Kavoor police stations. The accused have been handed over to the Urwa police for further investigation.

Under the able direction of Police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Law and Order Hanumantharaya, DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth, the operation was carried out by the CCB police led by Inspector Sunil Naik.
